Culinary Institute Advisory Board Members

The Culinary Institute at Indian River State College Advisory Board is comprised of outstanding business and civic leaders in the four county area IRSC services and is directed toward achieving closer cooperation between our program’s instruction, education and training as well as the business needs of the culinary industry and community.

The advisory board typically meets twice a year and is designed to:

  • Share the needs of the culinary industry from an employment standpoint
  • Offer recommendations for activities that will enhance the instructional process
  • Provide the program with community support
  • Serve as a communication liaison between the culinary industry and our students
  • Assist with placement of students for internship opportunities, if available and applicable
  • Act as a resource for scholarship opportunities for our students, if available and applicable.

  • Jeffrey Tyler – ACTS Retirement-Life Communities; Indian River Estates East                                                                                                                  Title:  Director, Culinary and Nutrition Services

    Education/Training:  Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Management; Master’s degree in Dietary Management; Certified Dietary Manager; Certified Food Protection Professional; Certified Dining Room Manager; Certified Culinary Manager; Certified Seafood Handler
  • William Solomon – Indian River State College                                                                                                                                                                                      Chef Bill Solomon is Assistant Professor at The Culinary Institute at Indian River State College. He also serves as Department Chair for the Human Environmental Science Department which includes the Culinary Institute, the Culinary Operations Apprenticeship program, and Early Childhood Education program at IRSC. Professor Solomon has owned and operated his own restaurants, foodservice manufacturing companies, and consulting business along with other businesses in various areas in both Michigan and Florida.
